If you’re putting your house on the market this summer, you are going to want to make a positive first impression on potential buyers with your curb appeal.  There are several things you can do to upgrade the appearance of the front of your home.

Driveway

If your driveway is cracked or stained or has weeds sprouting from it, these are all easily fixed without doing a complete redo.  First, repair the cracks and kill the weeds.  Then remove the stains.  Keep your driveway swept and clear of debris.  If you want to add a little flair, install some pavers along the sides for a new look.  The same goes for sidewalks leading up to your house.

Front Door

Dress it up!  This is the focal point of your curb appeal, so make it pop with a bold paint color.  If you don’t paint it, clean up any dirty spots, especially around the doorknob. Make it shine by using metal polish on the door fixtures. Choose a wreath or swag that reflects the season.

Grass

During the summer, you will have to mow the grass as often as twice a week.  Keeping a healthy, green lawn can be challenging during the hottest time of year, but it certainly makes your property more appealing at first site to potential buyers.

Flowers and Shrubbery

The best way to add a welcoming feel and colorful curb appeal to your home’s exterior is to plant flowers and shrubs.  And inexpensive and quick way to do that is to create a container garden.  You can purchase them ready-made from garden centers or create your own with your favorite flowers and plants.  For a dynamic setting, use a staggered, asymmetrical arrangement.
